Our School-Age Program

Our school-age program has been in operation since 1995. To accommodate working families, we staff our program from 6:45-8:20 each morning at the Kids Cafeteria of Barry Elementary School and every afternoon when school dismisses from 3:10 – 5:45 pm. All Cortland school children are welcome to use this program and can be bussed from this center to their home school in the morning and from their school to this center in the afternoon.

Our program is also available full days when public school is not in session due to snow days, parent conferences and on staff development days. We are also open on many holidays when school is not in session. During the months of July and August we operate a full day summer camp for children in elementary school.

Our recreation staff participates in on-going training to keep current with regulations and are knowledgeable in First Aid and CPR. Many are also completing their degrees at local colleges. They enjoy participating with the children in activities that encourage lots of active play, learning table games, appropriate conflict resolution and creative art. Help with homework is readily available.

Meals are provided and children frequently assist with preparation and clean up. Visitors from neighborhood agencies offer activities that promote proper exercise and nutrition.

Tuition is based on scheduled attendance.
